Cahill Design Consultancy was contracted by Worcester University to undertake acoustic planning and design services to their residential University Court project, located in Worcester, Worcestershire.
CDC was commissioned to undertake acoustic design services for the project. The proposed development will be located on currently unused land on the outskirts of Worcester with a total land area of 12 hectares. The development is proposed to incorporate ten blocks of student accommodation, creating a total of 1500 accommodation units. The development will also incorporate an ancillary building providing a lecture hall, café, meetings rooms and other ancillary areas.
Acoustic support was provided to the client and wider design team to ensure that the student accommodation buildings were able to comply with the requirements of Approved Document E of the Building Regulations, in addition to other British Standards and other acoustic guidelines. CDC worked closely with the wider design team, including architects, MEP, Structures and others, to ensure that the acoustic design was appropriate to the wider design aspirations for the project.
