Cahill Design Consultants (CDC) was commissioned by KEO International to support the acoustic design of the proposed Qatar University Administration and Support Building, located within the grounds of Qatar University, Doha, Qatar.
The proposed development will accommodate a number of Qatar University staff members, located within a four storey building of office accommodation. A large scale data centre is also incorporated into the design, with associated generators and chiller units. The development incorporates four separated accommodation blocks, which are joined by a common central circulation space.
The development also incorporates a large volume atrium which links the four blocks. A number of spaces are incorporated into the development, including offices areas, meeting rooms, an auditorium, male and female gymnasiums, a data centre, common areas and back of house areas. CDC was commissioned to undertake full acoustic design services to the project.
This included technical support into Concept Design, Schematic Design and Detailed Design stages of the project. Digital modelling was undertaken for the Auditorium area. CDC also supported the project to ensure that the available QSAS credits were achieved with respect to acoustics, noise and vibration.
