CDC was commissioned by CJ O’Shea Limited to provide Fire Engineering services to Orchard Wharf, which is a large scale residential led, mixed use development, located in E14 London.
The proposed development comprises a number of stepped towers extending to the highest element at 23 stories, with a total of 3,600m2 of mixed use accommodation. The development also incorporates a large scale basement car parking area.
CDC was commissioned to support the Contractor, CJ O’Shea Limited, on behalf of Galliard Homes to offer Fire Engineering services to the development. Supporting our Client, CDC provided full fire engineering design services to ensure that the development is able to comply with the functional requirements of Building Regulations. Fire Engineering solutions have been proposed where the requirements are not able to be met by Building Regulations.
CDC worked closely with CJ O’Shea Limited to assess the compartmentation, smoke extract, fire service access provision, escape routes and fire alarms. CDC was able to design an effective and efficient smoke extract system for the development, which will allow cost savings to the design.
CFD modelling will be undertaken to several areas, to substantiate fire engineering solutions, that will allow the building to be more efficient. CFD modelling will be undertaken for basement car park areas and upper floor circulation spaces. to justify extended travel distances.
CDC will ensure that the design will comply with all required Building Regulations and the design will be supported by Building Control approval.
