CDC was commissioned by McL Projects Limited to offer full acoustic design, planning and commissioning services to this 260 key hotel development located in the centre of Kingston Upon Hull.
The proposed development is operated by Doubletree by Hilton Hotels. The five storey building incorporates guestrooms, food and beverage areas, fitness suite, guest services areas, conference facilities, in addition to the usual back of house spaces.
CDC was commissioned to support the project from RIBA stages 2-7 which incorporating planning, concept, preliminary and detailed design stages, in addition to construction supervision and commissioning tests.
The acoustic design was developed in accordance with Doubletree Brand Standard requirements in addition to Building Regulation requirements.
CDC worked closely with the wider design team including architects, building services engineers, structural engineers, fire engineering and project managers to ensure that the acoustic design requirements were effectively incorporated into the design proposals. This included internal sound insulation, acoustic design of external fabric, building services noise control, reverberation control and structural acoustic assessments.
Extensive calculations were undertaken for the conference centre to ensure that appropriate acoustic conditions were achieved in accordance with the Doubletree Brand Standard.
